WORSHIP

August 22, 2010

Today’s introit and benediction are sung by two of our teens who learned this contemporary Christian music while on a Youth Mission Trip to Canton, Ohio this summer. There they attended a faith-based work camp consisting of hundreds of youth who painted and repaired homes for low-income families. Along with fellow GPC teenager Emma Marshall, they joined the camp’s Music Team and performed nightly at the camp’s evening programs. (Emma is with her family on summer holiday today.)

On July 18, the Ohio mission trip team went to Canton, Ohio, to spend a week with Christian youth from around the country. Our group included: Marissa and Jared Baly, their friend Lily Statzer, Emma Marshall, and Jacob and Lizzie Schatz. Noel and Merritt Schatz went along as parent chaperones (and volunteer workers!). In addition to working on houses (e.g. painting, repairing, building fences) the group participated in devotionals and vibrant worship services. They slept on the floor of a local high school.

The "Undeserved"  on the  photo  was the theme for the work camp. It was meant to express the campers good actions toward the elderly and low income families that they assisted, and leaning to do those actions out of the goodness of their hearts, and not for anything in return.
