GPC Budget Facts   Did you know . . .
• that Georgetown Presbyterian Church spends about $156 per member (or $62,400 annually) to keep the lights on, water flowing and heat/air conditioning running.

• that Georgetown Presbyterian spends $45 per member (or $18,000 annually), to insure ourselves from property damage and liability.

• that Georgetown Presbyterian Church spends about $134 per member (or $53,000 in 2011) to keep our historic, and aging, property in good repair.

• that Georgetown Presbyterian Church spends about $330 per member for all the elements of our music program, from organ maintenance to musicians and sheet music. Although part of this expense is covered from bequests, the total of approximately $132,000 per year is what it takes to be blessed week after week with music that pleases our ears and deepens our experience during worship.

• that every year Georgetown Presbyterian Church spends almost $78 per member (or $31,000), on copier expenses, paper, postage, cleaning supplies, and other incidental expenses that keep us operating in a manner we all appreciate.

• that Georgetown Presbyterian Church supports the theological education of future ministers by contributing $4,500 per year, or about $11 per GPC member, to Presbyterian theological seminaries? It is just another way we support and stay connected to the Presbyterian Church beyond Georgetown.

• Although many of us appreciate the ease of electronic transactions for our contributions to Georgetown Presbyterian Church, we often forget that Georgetown Presbyterian is charged a small fee by banks to process these convenient payments. Although the cost of each transaction is small, we spend about $4,000 per year, or about $10 per member, for this convenience. Please keep this in mind and pledge generously for 2012.

• and, although we sometimes take for granted that good food fuels the soul during worship and fellowship, each year Georgetown Presbyterian Church spends $7,000, or $18 per member, to support Lunch and Punch Bunch, and provide coffee and snacks for myriad activities.

These items may seem mundane, but sometimes we forget about what is required to operate a church. Please keep this in mind and pledge generously for 2012.

Giving of our Time and Talents
God has given each of you some special abilities; be sure to use them to help each other, passing on to others God’s many kinds of blessings.      1 Peter 4:10
God has given each of us special talents and abilities. For some, it is working with youth, for others it is helping to organize activities, and for some it is the gift of listening. It takes many hands and hearts to make a church function and grow. We invite everyone to look over our Time & Talent Form throughout the year to see how you can become more involved in our common ministry. The form can be placed in the offering plate on Sundays or sent to the church office. Please also note the volunteering page where you will find a contact person for many activities around the church.

•  networks with other denominations' environmental staff persons through the National Council of Churches of Christ Eco-Justice Working Group

•  relates to Presbyterians for Earth Care, an Eco-Justice network dedicated to environmental wholeness with social justice, seeking to be a prophetic voice for substantive change in the church and in the world
