Funding Christ's Mission in 2011
Georgetown Presbyterian Church is here today because of those who came before us – sharing their time, talent, and resources as faithful witnesses to the church of Jesus Christ. We are also here to live a fuller Christian life, one that is filled with prayer and thanksgiving, with fellowship and service, and to develop a life given to sharing God's love through mission and evangelism. It is with joy that we continue in the tradition established back in 1780 so that we, too, can pass it on to the next generation.

Let us pour out the abundance
that God has poured out on us!

Our Stewardship campaigns focus on the importance of maintaining GPC's worship and witness through pledging by members and others who attend on a regular basis. There is a Theology of Stewardship, The Bible is replete with passages showing that our fore bearers in the faith recognized that everything we have is a gift from God (Psalm 24:1); we reap what we sow (2 Corinthians 9:6); God is the owner, we are trustees (2 Timothy 1:14); God loves a cheerful giver (2 Corinthians 9:7); and, it is God who is glorified by a cheerful giver.

Annual pledging allows the church to plan and to develop programs that foster our spiritual growth and our work in the community. It also keeps the lights on and provides a place for us to gather in worship and fellowship. See the programs below to see how important pledging is to the ongoing mission of this congregation.

GPC's 2011 Stewardship Campaign emphasizes "Stepping Up!" Pledges fall into natural categories like rungs on a ladder, and we often get too comfortable on our established rung. We are asking our members to give prayful consideration to taking a step up the ladder in their giving this year. In a recent sermon, we were reminded that “Where your heart is, there your treasure will be also.” Let us invest our time and resources in this place that we value so much.

Engaging in our Common Ministry
Giving of our Time and Talents

God has given each of us special talents and abilities. For some, it is working with youth, for others it is helping to organize activities, and for some it is the gift of listening. GPC holds its annual Time and Talents Fair in September. It is an opportunity to share with the congregation and visitors what has been happening within the various committees and ministries throughout the year AND to help engage more of us in those activities. This stimulating event promotes fellowship among the congregation and offers opportunities for those wishing to share their God-given gifts within the congregation and the community. We invite everyone to look over our Time and Talents form, not just in September, but throughout the year. The form can be placed in the offering plate on Sundays or sent to the church office. We are reminded: "… Feed the flock of God; care for it willingly, not grudgingly; not for what you will get out of it, but because you are eager to serve the Lord." (I Peter 5:1)
